About Claire Saye

Having left school to work as an apprentice in a photographic studio and darkroom, I have over 20 years experience in the photographic industry.

After having our 2 children and a break from photography flying around the world as cabin crew for Virgin Atlantic, I am now well and truly grounded having established my own photographic business, and for the last 2 years specialising in birth documentary. From the moment I captured my first birth I was hooked! I knew this was what I had to specialise in. I have and am currently studying courses based around labour and birth to help me to understand more about the physiology and terminology of birth and what’s happening at certain moments. One of these courses is to be an accredited Doula. I think it’s important to have this understanding if I’m to be present in the birth space.

My birth photography is a documentary style of photography showing the story of your labour, birth and postnatal moments at one of the most incredible times of your life.

Discreet and un-posed, I capture the pure magic and raw emotion of childbirth.

It is extremely important for me to be unobtrusive and hold the sanctity of the birthing space foremost in my work. My intention is that you can be totally present in the moment, while fully confident that I will do justice to your incredible and unique story. What an amazing thing to know that your child will one day be able to see the joy on their mother’s face the moment they were born. My wish is for you to relive your journey through my photographs, this time seeing things you may have missed like, a partner’s supportive touch, a sibling’s reaction when they meet their new brother or sister, the love in mum’s eyes as she sees her baby for the first time.
