About Our FTF and Virtual Courses
Our Face to Face training course takes place over three days. You will receive a training pack when you arrive, with your training syllabus enclosed.
During two of the days, you will be taught how to discuss the information imparted from within the syllabus, exploring various learning styles and methods to keep your classes engaging. There will be time to look through the evidence used within the programme that supports birth physiology and also you will explore choice and consent.
You will have regular break out sessions to practice the techniques and get a feel for discussing the information. Break out sessions happen in small groups throughout the day, and your trainer will be around to answer and questions that you may have.
We will provide dolls, pelvis, placenta and any other materials, however you are welcome to bring your own or pre-order a set for use on the training course.
On day 3, each registrant will be given a section of the workshop to impart back to the group. You will be informed to which sections you will be discussing the evening before, giving you time to prepare. The most important part of day 3 is using the syllabus you have been issued and having a chance to work through the whole course again!
Our Virtual Course came as a response to Covid-19 and has been run very successfully since. Due to the nature of distance training we have modified the structure, not the content.
You will be sent a training pack in the post a week prior to your course and a list of items that will help you prepare for your training, some being essential and some being non-essential.
For example :
Flip Chart and pens – essential
Birthing Ball – non essential
You will be sent out a meeting invite and secure password to access the training course.
Virtual training takes place over 4 days, over a 2 week period. This allows time to get used to the methods and to feel more comfortable using the breakout rooms and virtual training rooms.
We can train up to 6 people per trainer virtually and you will have a buddy throughout your course, who you will practice the techniques with, in the break out sessions.
Days 1 to 3 will be working through your syllabus, inline with the face to face taught classes and on day 4, each registrant will be given a section of the workshop to impart back to the group.
You will be informed to which sections you will be discussing the evening before, giving you time to prepare. The most important part of day 4 is using the syllabus you have been issued and having a chance to work through the whole course again!
The programme that you will work through has been written in a format that has been researched and thought to enhance the learning process. This syllabus is written in the same structure and will take the same form as your classes. We will look at the attitudes to labour and birth which play an integral part to way the course is delivered.
The Real Birth Company has a real community feel and approach, it is an all inclusive company with its Teachers at the heart of that community.
You will find that you are well supported by your classes and there will always be help on hand within the Hub for any questions or advice that you may need, including how to advertise your classes. We have regular national advertising campaigns that will help direct people to your sessions.
Each year you will be invited to an update day where you can reconnect with your peers and discuss any challenges you may have experienced. This day will help maintain your registration that is payable yearly to continue to be a registered teacher. The yearly registration is £70 per year.
The 3-day course is £600, you can either pay in full or a deposit of £200 to secure your place. Our courses run several times a year and pre-booking is essential.

You can train out of several locations, our favourite being at The Real Birth Studio in Hereford! This is the home of the Real Birth Company and our main Training Centre.
There are plenty of reasonably priced B&B’s and hotels in the area and you can take an evening stroll around the City and see the sights, including the famous Mappi Mundi.
You can also train in Leeds, London, Birmingham, Exeter and Belfast and if none of these are easy for you to get to, there is the option of Virtual Training.
For privately arranged group courses, please contact us separately.
